We are excited to announce that 2-Step Verification a.k.a Two-Factor Authentication is now available to all customers of the Helpmonks hosted-, cloud-server-, and self-hosted edition.
While the digital revolution has made our lives easier, there is always as a risk with storing your information online. At Helpmonks we’ve made it our goal to protect your privacy and security at all costs.
Now, we are making your Helpmonks security even safer with our new 2-Step Verification process. With 2-Step Verification enabled, no one can access your account, even if they would know your email address and password.
The idea behind 2-Step Verification is to combine a 3rd-party element with your login information to add an extra layer of security to your Helpmonks account. With the Helpmonks 2-Step Verification feature you can use an Authenticator app, e.g. Google Authenticator, Lastpass Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Duo Security, and Authy, to log into your Helpmonks account.
Besides the above software solution, you can also use a hardware based security key, such as the famous Yubikey USB security key to access your Helpmonks account.
Enabling 2-Step Verification
As you are now all excited for your security, you can head over to “Your Profile” and under the new “Security” section enable 2-Step Verification.
Enabling 2-Step Verification is easy and all you need to do is to scan the Qr-code with your Authenticator app.
The next time you log in to your Helpmonks account, you will be asked to provide the 6-digit security code or the Yubikey. You can also switch between those two authentication mechanisms.
If you are an administrator of an Helpmonks account you will be happy to know that you will be able to help your users if they have an issue while signing into their account. In each user section, you now find a security option to either provide your users with a backup-key or to disable 2-Step Verification for them.
We are hard at work on some significant changes to the search in Helpmonks. The new search will be faster and will have more options. Obviously, this will be available to all customers as well.
Last but not least, we are working on one of the most requested feature — Collision Detection.
Stay tuned for some more updates real soon.
